SS-313 – Silicone-Based Surfactant for Fluorine-Free Firefighting Foam
SS-313 is an organic silicone-based surfactant developed for use in fluorine-free firefighting foam formulations. It is designed to improve the surface activity, wetting and spreading performance of conventional hydrocarbon-based surfactant systems, helping optimize the overall performance of fluorine-free foam formulations without relying on traditional fluorinated surfactants.
Key Functions & Performance Benefits
1. Excellent Surface Tension Reduction
SS-313 helps reduce the surface tension of aqueous solutions, improving their wetting properties and spreading ability. This contributes to enhanced surface activity in fluorine-free firefighting foam formulations.
2. Improved Spreading and Wetting Performance
By enhancing surface wettability and spreading characteristics, SS-313 helps firefighting foam solutions spread more effectively over fuel surfaces, supporting the formation of a more uniform foam blanket.
3. Enhanced Foam Performance
When properly formulated with compatible surfactants, SS-313 can contribute to improved foaming characteristics and foam structure. It helps optimize foam coverage and may support foam stability and resistance to premature breakdown.
4. Supports Fluorine-Free Formulation Development
As an alternative functional ingredient to conventional fluorinated surfactants, SS-313 supports the development of next-generation fluorine-free firefighting foam formulations and the transition toward more environmentally responsible fire suppression technologies.
Applications
SS-313 is suitable for incorporation into fluorine-free firefighting foam formulations, particularly those based on hydrocarbon surfactant systems.
It can be used as a functional component to improve surface activity, wetting and spreading performance in the development of fluorine-free foam concentrates.
